The review article titled “Emerging Therapeutic Modalities against COVID-19” provides a comprehensive overview and update of current therapeutic interventions in clinical trials for the treatment of COVID-19.

Meet the Researcher: Raman Bahal, School of Pharmacy

Jhanavi Thakkar, a high school student, joined our lab as a summer intern in 2019. She was enthusiastic, motivated, and was actively involved in the research. She will be joining Vanderbilt University for her undergraduate studies in Fall 2020. Congratulations Jhanavi and good luck for a very bright future ahead!

Shipra Malik is the recipient of the 2020 Gerald J. Jackson Memorial Fellowship, awarded to a Ph.D. student in Pharmaceutics discipline for leadership, academics, and research achievements.

Dr. Bahal received a “Faculty Shout Out” award from P1 pharmacy students for spring 2020 teaching.

Congratulations to Shipra Malik for winning the UConn 2020 RNA Salon Travel Award. The travel award is granted by UConn RNA Salon, funded by RNA society, to support the upcoming researchers in the field of RNA Therapeutics.

The recent research work based on targeted delivery of Peptide Nucleic Acid (PNA) to kidneys using pH low insertion peptide (pHLIP) technology has been published in JCI Insights. The research work “Genetic deficiency or pharmacological inhibition of miR-33 protects from kidney fibrosis” was performed in collaboration with Dr. Carlos Fernández-Hernando at the Yale University School of Medicine.

Karishma Dhuri presented a poster at 2^nd Annual UConn/URI-AAPS Symposium held at the University of Rhode Island, College of Pharmacy on 21^st September 2019 and was awarded the best poster presentation.
